Frequently Asked Questions
What does this calculator check?
This website calculator displays 10h/24h, 77h/7-day, and split-rest planning results from the week you enter. It is separate from the MarRest app and is not a legal determination.
How do I enter watches?
Set from and to times for each day. Use the second watch only if needed, for example 6 on / 6 off. Click “Use Monday every day” if the pattern is the same.
How do I enter an overnight watch?
If end is before start, for example 22:00 to 06:00, the watch continues into the next day.
How is split rest evaluated?
In each 24-hour window, rest may be in at most two periods. One period must be at least 6 hours continuous, and the gap between them must not exceed 14 hours.
Is this calculator a legal determination?
No. It is a planning aid. Operators should confirm interpretation and final compliance with their flag state.
Where can I read a broader guide?
Use the fishing guide for practical context. STCW-F itself governs training, certification, and watchkeeping; applicable national rules and ILO C188 provide numeric work/rest requirements.
