The app speaks Icelandic, Norwegian, and English
The recorded work/rest data is the same. The words around it should not force every AB into English. Each user picks Icelandic, Norwegian, or English in their profile.
Quick Answer
Each user chooses Icelandic, Norwegian, or English in their profile. Menus, rest warnings, marketplace, reports, and PDFs follow that language. Other crew can stay in a different language on the same vessel.

What follows the language
Clock-in, rest warnings, marketplace, voyage planner, monthly reports, and PDFs use the language in the profile. A Norwegian captain and an Icelandic AB on the same vessel do not have to share one UI language.
The change is immediate. A cookie named marrest_locale remembers the choice for up to a year. It stores only a language code — not a tracking ID.
Inspectors and English
You can keep working in Icelandic or Norwegian and still produce an English PDF of the same month: switch the profile to English and export again.
What this is not
- Not a company-wide language lock. The setting is per user.
- Not a one-language lock on the PDF. Export again in English from the profile when you need that copy.
- Not the same as this marketing site. The website already had three languages; the app now matches.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the whole company have to use one language?
No. Language is per user. An Icelandic AB can work next to a Norwegian captain; each sees MarRest in the language they picked.
Are rest-hour PDFs translated?
Yes. Reports and PDFs follow the user who generates them. Switch to English in the profile and export again if you need an English copy.
Where is the switch?
In the profile. The change applies immediately. A cookie (marrest_locale) remembers the choice for up to a year; it holds only a language code.
