Fill the hole without the group chat

Someone cannot stand the watch. The hole should be a row, not five phone calls. Eligible crew claim it. The rest log stays in MarRest.

Quick Answer

On Vaktos-linked organisations, Can't make it on a future published watch opens it on the marketplace. Only eligible crew see it. First claim wins. Clock-in and rest hours stay in MarRest.

In the MarRest app today: Open watches can be offered to eligible crew through the marketplace. Clock-in, rest-hour checks, work logs, and reporting remain in MarRest. Shifts are not blocked automatically—the captain decides.

How a hole gets filled

  1. Crew tap Can't make it on a future published watch on Clock-in.
  2. Eligible colleagues see it on Marketplace and tap Take shift.
  3. Vaktos keeps the assignment; MarRest shows the listing and sends a push when a watch opens.

A planner can also put a watch on the market from the Vaktos roster. That is the same hole, seen from the office.

What this is not

  • Not a labour-agency pool.
  • Not auto-assignment.
  • Not a second time clock. Clock-in stays in MarRest.

Most shore-based planners never see this screen. They use the Vaktos marketplace. Crew on a Vaktos-linked organisation use this one because clock-in already lives in MarRest. Read MarRest with Vaktos if you are choosing which product owns the roster.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who sees an open watch?

Only eligible crew can see an open watch. Admins can see all open listings.

Who gets an open watch?

The first eligible crew member to claim it gets the watch. Once claimed, it is no longer available to others.

Can I take a call-out back?

Yes. Use Undo while the listing is still open and the watch has not started. If someone has already claimed it, you cannot take the call-out back.

Do standalone MarRest companies have a marketplace?

No. The MarRest marketplace is available for organisations using Vaktos for roster planning. Standalone MarRest still handles clock-in, rest-hour logging, alerts, and reports.
