The End of Paper Chaos
Manual rest hour logs are a source of risk and inefficiency. The authorities know it, and you feel it every day. It's a system prone to:
-
Fictitious entries
that hide real compliance issues and create false security.
-
Manual calculation errors
that lead to costly and unintentional violations.
-
Hours of administrative work
that divert focus from safe and efficient vessel operation.

Why the name MarRest?
MarRest
Mar points to the sea. Rest points to the hours a crew must actually get, not just write down after the trip.
The name is simple because the job is simple: help vessels keep work/rest records that match the day as it happened.
Built by captains who have stood the watch
MarRest is not another IT project from a team that has never stood a midnight watch. We are two captains with years of experience on deck. We have felt the frustration of paperwork and the weight of responsibility for our crew's safety.
MarRest started in Norwegian passenger vessel operations, where work/rest paperwork has to match the actual day on board.

What Captains Say About MarRest
Captain
I have been using the Marrest program alongside Deputy for the last few months. I must say that I am very happy with Marrest. It is easy to use and has many possibilities to monitor work and rest hour registration, not only for me but for the entire crew, where I as captain can change and reconcile registrations if they do not match the actual working hours. This I can do every day, weekly, or as I like.
When it comes to reporting rest hour registration, this is just great. I get an overview of the entire crew and can print out for each one with just one click. Just simple and great to use.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is MarRest?
MarRest is a digital logbook for maritime work and rest hours. It replaces paper records with rolling checks against STCW, MLC 2006, and Norwegian Maritime Authority requirements.
Who is MarRest built for?
MarRest is built for vessel operators, ship owners, and maritime companies that need reliable work/rest records. It was created by two captains from the Norwegian passenger vessel industry.
Which regulations does MarRest comply with?
MarRest is built around work/rest documentation required under Norwegian Maritime Authority (Sjøfartsdirektoratet) rules, the STCW Convention, and the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006.
How does MarRest flag rest hour risk?
MarRest checks rolling 24-hour and 168-hour rest limits and shows green, amber, or red status before and during a tour. Captains can adjust the roster while there is still time. Shifts are not blocked automatically—the captain decides.
How does the system handle crew working across multiple vessels?
MarRest follows the crew member, not just the vessel. Recent work and rest hours move with the person when they change vessel or swap a shift.
Can I try MarRest before committing?
Yes. Contact us at our email address to request a demo. We will walk through MarRest with your vessel routines in mind.
